Reuben is member of the Rastafari movement and is a devoted worshipper of his Majesty Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia and Empress Menen of Ethiopia and is ready to position himself as one of Reggae's and Rastafari′s greatest voices.

Rasta Reuben immigrated to Toronto Ontario Canada in the early 1980′s and now currently resides in Vancouver, BC. He joined the Toronto music scene as a skilful bass player and foundation member of the House of David Gang. He went on to form the SELASSIE iPOWER song group with Rasta Reuben on lead vocals with Yolissa Dalamba, Marcia Levi Collins and Julie-Anne Corby as harmony singers. His first major recognition was for the "Best Reggae Album" with the debut album "King of Kings" by Rasta Reuben and the SELASSIE iPOWER Musik at the 1998 Canadian Urban Music Awards. Reuben released the band′s new album "Reggae Planet Vol. 1 Revelation 21 in 2011 with the support of Pro Music Records. He followed up with Reggae Planet Vol 2, Revolution 22 released in 2012. Promotional touring in Canada took place to support the CD and digital release. Rasta Reuben and SELASSIE iPOWER Musik is a Visionary and Revolutionary Reggae World Music Artist.

His musical influence was encouraged by his father who was devoted to collecting all types of music, particularly Black American Music and Jamaican Caribbean Music. In his adolescent years the music from the Great Legends Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Bunny Wailer and Jimmy Cliff had a profound spiritual and creative impact on his life and inspired him to turn his poetry into song. He started writing and composing songs with his musical brothers Frederick (Fredlocks Asher) Phinn & David  (Uncle Dropsi)  Phinn and honed his craft at CW Jeffries High School where he studied the art of music and learned to play musical instruments. Jamaican Recording Artist Joseph "Culture" Hill later played a major role as an inspirational musical mentor in Kwabena's career.

Rasta Reuben’s popularity and international acclaim continues to grow as a widely known and revered performer and personality host of reggae music. He is credited for helping spread both Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement to a worldwide audience through his songs and the "Reggae Planet Internet Radio Show" http://www.CIVL.ca

The next stride for Rueben in the Roots Rock Reggae Revolution is to expand the household brand name of Reggae Planet, Rasta Ruben Kwabena and SELASSIE iPOWER Musik worldwide.

"I have love and respect for all music! I will always remember my dad saying that music has no colour and no barriers. Music breaks down segregation."
