LaRae

LA based Pop and R&B singer LaRae brings fresh vocals and relatable lyrics to the table. Born in Dallas and raised in Glendon, Texas, she has been singing “since she could stand in the pews.” A stand out in middle school and church choir, her teachers saw something special and pushed her to hone her talent. Her music has been described today as having “excellent production value and lyrical content” while being written to “tell a story.”

On Tuesday, October 7th, LaRae will be digitally re-releasing her single, “Yo Life” on iTunes and in 6 countries including the US, Canada, Japan and the UK. The song was originally released on September 10th of last year, but the re-release will accompany a music video that will be launched on the same day as well as national and international radio promotion and advertising. In addition to working on her upcoming tracks, LaRae is also learning the guitar and piano, which will be prominent in her next album. LaRae's maturity and experience make her a stand-out musician in today's adult contemporary scene. Her start came from a local and traveling Motown review band, Lindy and the Look, that put her on stage as lead female vocalist singing medleys by The Supremes, Marvelettes and others. After being asked to prove her musical caliber by singing a Toni Braxton song, the band asked LaRae to go with them to California.

In Los Angeles, she met Henry Garner, drummer of the soul and R&B group “Rose Royce.” Garner, who contributed to the 1970's hits “I'm Going Down,” “Car Wash,” and “I Wanna Get Next to You,” wanted to work with LaRae after she first auditioned for his band. Though she didn't make it into “Rose Royce,” she worked hard on her own. The next time she rehearsed with the band, Garner was impressed with her skills and improvement and decided to sign her on as a solo artist to his label, World Music Entertainment.

Following the release of “Yo Life,” LaRae will be releasing several other singles leading up to her first album, which will be available early next year. Her encouraging and catchy tracks are reminiscent of her influences including the runs of Luther Vandross, variety of Michael Jackson, and strength of Whitney Houston. With songs that “aren't just a hook, but also tell a story,” LaRae offers a unique, modern approach to today's world of pop. “I do it because I love it,” she says. “I want to wake up every single day and do this. It's not about stardom for me.”
